Natural Areas Event: National Volunteer Week Earth Day Trail Project - Morning Session

Sun, 2026-04-19 00:00
Thank you for signing up to help with a National Volunteer Week Earth Day Project at Pineridge Natural Area! The purpose of the project is to spruce up several parts of Pineridge, one of our most popular natural areas. Volunteers will help remove and install new boardwalk and do trail maintenance along the Timber Trail. We will also be doing shoreline clean-up and vegetation management around Dixon Reservoir. Accessible activity options will also be available and include replacing signage, maintaining picnic tables, and installing wildlife-friendly trash cans. Activities are appropriate for volunteers ages 8 and up and it's a great way to get to know more about your Natural Areas and give back to these public lands during National Volunteer Week and Earth Day. Participants will be split into groups of 5 people to work with trails staff. Rattlesnakes may be present, but snake gaiters will be provided for additional protection for anyone working off trail. Please wear long sleeves, long pants, and sturdy, comfortable shoes. Bring plenty of water and wear a hat or some other kind of sun protection - there's no shade at this location! Sunscreen, gloves, snacks, and a lunch will be provided. Here are some important things to know before signing up: 1) This event is for community members ages 8+ and no dogs are allowed at this event. 2) All participants must sign up through this link and will be prompted to sign a waiver (yay for less paper at the event!) 3) We will be meeting at the Dixon Reservoir parking lot for Pineridge Natural Area. A shuttle from town will meet at Northside Aztlan Community Center for those without their own transportation. E-mail AJ at achlebnik@fortcollins.gov if you would like to ride the shuttle. 4) Lunch will be provided at the end of the project. Sign-In will begin around 8:30am with a start time of 9:00am. Volunteers will be given an important safety talk before beginning the activity. Carpooling is encouraged! Snacks and water jugs (for refills) will be provided, but please bring your own water container, warm/layered clothing, close-toed footwear adequate for walking off-trail, and any other items for an afternoon of comfort outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Please reach out to AJ Chlebnik with any questions or to reserve a space on the shuttle from the Northside Aztlan Center at (970) 224-6118 or achlebnik@fortcollins.gov. People of all abilities and disabilities are welcome to participate in all programs and we are happy to make any appropriate accommodations. Social Sustainability Event: Annual Action Plan Public Hearing

Mon, 2026-03-23 00:00

The Housing & Community Vitality Department is holding a public hearing for a Substantial Amendment to the PY24 Annual Action Plan and the upcoming PY26 Annual Action Plan.

The Annual Action Plan (AAP) is a document required by HUD that identifies actions proposed for the coming year that will use HUD’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) & HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) funds, and contributes to the comprehensive Five-Year Consolidated Plan. The AAP addresses housing and community development priorities and needs, homelessness issues, and the needs of special populations. It also identifies funding sources to be applied to each project.

The PY24 AAP Substantial Amendment removes two projects from the PY24 Plan that did not proceed as originally scoped, totaling $1,727,402 in CDBG and HOME funds, which were returned to the Competitive Process. Some of the unused funds were reallocated in the PY25 Competitive Process, and the remainder will be reallocated in the PY26 Competitive Process.

Details of the Substantial Amendment and projects that have applied for PY26 funding will be reviewed in this Public Hearing.

The Public Hearing will be held on March 25 from noon–1:00p.m., in the Small Meeting Room at the Old Town Library, 201 Peterson Street, Fort Collins, CO 80524. An online option is available. RSVP here.

The City of Fort Collins PY24 AAP Substantial Amendment will be available for public review March 1–April 1, 2026. Request a copy of the full document by emailing housing@fortcollins.gov.

The PY26 AAP will also have a 30-day public review period when it is complete.
